A classic Christmas fable about love and charity, retold by Richard Paul Evans, author of The Christmas Box. On a snowy Christmas Eve, a young man named Thomas on his way home for a family celebration realizes that the candle in his lantern is about to expire. He stops in a chandler's shop filled with fantastic wax creations, but instead of admiring them Thomas scorns the chandler for wasting.

Richard Paul Evans. When Richard Paul Evans wrote the #1 best-seller, The Christmas Box, he never intended on becoming an internationally known author. Officially, he was an advertising executive, an award-winning clay animator for the American and Japanese markets, candidate for state legislature and most importantly, husband and father. Award-winning writer Richard Paul Evans creates a beautiful, simply told tale of humility with the same wisdom and masterful storytelling he has brought to his bestselling children's books, including The Christmas Candle, The Dance, and The Spyglass. Jonathan Linton's richly textured paintings bring to life a story to be embraced by readers. Faith is at the heart of master storyteller Richard Paul Evans's moving new fable, which is brought to life by the rich, magnificent oil paintings of artist Jonathan Linton. Together, author and artist have created a powerful story that will inspire readers young and old to see their world through the eyes of faith. ISBN:

A moving story by Richard Paul Evans (). When my boys were very young I read them this book every December, unpacked with our ornaments. I always teared. This is a story of the nature of giving and compassion. The main character is heading home when his candle runs out so he goes to a chandler who gives him a Christmas candle. The Christmas candle makes him see every beggar as a close family member instead of a stranger and he shows them great kindness, whereas he wouldn't do the same for a stranger. "An original fable about charity. BY RICHARD PAUL EVANS. THE CHRISTMAS CANDLE. Author of The Christmas Box.
